DarkerBlue - Searching the Message Archive in Yahoo Groups

Searching the Message Archive in the
Yahoo Group site

(Click on the images to see a larger, clearer version)

The first image highlights the Message Search box. After logging into the Group site with your Yahoo ID and password, you may search the Message Archive for a specific post by number, if known, or by any word or name. Additionally, you may also enter into the Advanced Search dialog by clicking the "Advanced" link. This search box will appear on the Home Page (less the post # search), Messages Page, or on any individual message page (as shown in the next image).

The next image shows the Search Box as it appears on an indivdual message page. In this example, you would be searching the Message Archive for the word "impaction." After typing your search word into the search box, click the SEARCH link.

With any luck, clicking the SEARCH link will return a page of all the messages containing your your search word, as shown in the next image. In this case the search word is "impaction" and it will be shown in bold type on the SEARCH return page.

You may further define your search by entering the Advanced Search, shown in this last image. Here you may define your search by Date, Author, Subject, or Message Body.

I think, generally, when seeking specific information in the Message Archive, a combination of the standard Search, Advanced Search, several different search terms and a fair degree of patience will yield the desired results.
