The Wrist List

Angela Byers owns the Kienbock Disease Information Center as well as the Yahoo Kienbock Disease Support Group, the best support group for Kienbock's Disease.

It is a friendly, open, knowledgeable group of Kienbock's sufferers and their families.

It is strongly recommended that you join the group if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Kienbock's Disease.

All questions are answered to the best of the groups' abilities. Whining and complaining are fully tolerated. Bickering and spamming are not.

It is NOT a site for medical treatment; that is left to you and your doctor. The members are quite frank in their discussions of their treatments and their results as well as their everyday tribulations and triumphs.

It is NOT a place for "inspirational" poems, virus alerts, warnings about flashing one's headlights at gang members, merchandising, or political discussions. It is overwhelmingly on-topic, unlike many lists.

You may opt to receive individual posts or a digest versions. You may also opt for "no mail" which allows you to read the posts at the sites if you prefer.

If you decide to join, there are a few questions the members will likely ask you.

You can provide some, all, or none of this information. It's entirely up to you.

Don't postpone or avoid joining the list if you don't know the answers to these questions.

X They'll want to know where you are. There are members all over the U.S. and the world, though it is an English-speaking list. You may find members in your area who can help you locate reputable, experienced doctors.

X They'll ask if you have this in your dominant or non-dominant hand (hand and wrist are used more-or-less interchangeably with this topic) or in both.

X When and how were you diagnosed?

X Do you know of any specific trauma or history of traumas to the wrist? Do you use your wrist a lot in your hobbies or job?

X They'll want to know certain things that you would have learned (or should learn) from your doctor. What stage are you in? Do you have an ulnar variance? What treatments were offered?

X Are you currently in a brace or cast?

X Have you had any surgeries or treatments yet?

X What type of support network do you have to help you? Friends or family in your home or nearby?

X What problems are you currently having?

X Do you have any tricks for coping with this?

And mostly, what can the list do for you? What questions, concerns, fears do you have?
